Do you think children should get paid to play sport????

I don’t think so..You play sport because you want to. I have a few friends that get paid for pb’s or scoring goals…Do you think this is right.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am with Chloe if you play sport it should be fun….Being rewarded with a ice cream or a trip to maccas is ok, but being paid money or big gifts is not on. What are these parents teaching their children???? Not to be good SPORTS.

I agree too.. it is not right if you are paid to do sport or even get PB’s. Sport is for fun not for money!!

Chloe if you got paid for sport your Mum would be broke…...I agree with you children should play sport because they want to play not because Mum or Dad want them to play. Playing for money is so wrong it doesn’t teach values it teaches how much for the next PB or GOAL. Sport is about fun fitness and friendship….....

Chloe you views on sport are so right. Sport is for fun fitness and friendship. Parents who pay their children are not helping their children they are bring them up to be spoil brats…And that is not what sport is about. In my time of sport I have seen parents buy playstations because their child made country and gameboy games because they do a PB..I am sorry but I think that this is wrong what are the parents teaching them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tayla’s point sport is for fun not money is a good point she has good values too. So play for fun or don’t play at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chloe I am with you and everyone else that has commented…Children should play sport for fun and fitness, paying your children is not a good thing it only makes that child a spoil brat. If you want your children to play a sport that bad you have to pay them it is time to give that sport away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s interesting isn’t it? I can see both sides of the argument.

Some parents may use it as a motivational tool – a means of getting their child up and active, when the kids may just want to stay at home on the couch. In that case it’s a means of encouraging activity where there isn’t any. I know someone whose parents used to bribe him to play his trumpet and pay him to turn up to performances.

On the other hand, if the kids are there for the cash, in the end it doesn’t really do them much good because once the money stops, they stop participating.

It would be much better to encourage the kids to play a sport because they enjoy it, rather than because they want money.

Want some proof? The trumpet player – when his Mum stopped paying him, he stopped playing…

I think playing sport for children is really important, (because) it teaches them to mix socially, teaches them to be part of a team, and then you’ve got all the health benefits.

“I think it makes them better citizens in the long run and gets them out from in front of the television.”

I agree with Chloe and I think that children shouldn’t get paid!!!!!

If you start paying them for sport are you going to pay them to go to school, play an instrument or get out of bed…. I don’t even paid my children for doing their chores…..

Chloe if Mum and Dad paid you and Jessica for every medal you won or every trophy you recieved we would be eating bread and butter….I think that no one should get paid for playing sport you play because you want to play…Sport is about fun fitness and making new friends not about getting playstations, gameboy games or dvd players because you did a pb or won..Some parents need to wake up to themselves and save there money for better things…..if you can’t handle the competition don’t play sport !!!!!!!!!!

well i think kids shouldn’t be paid to play sport sport is about having fun injoying the game making friends and just having an all round good time , well if parents paid there kids money . had a mate playing for the sharks Kimmorly i think and i will say exactly what he said sport and what ever games or thing that you play its not about the money or how many tries or goals you get its about having a great time and loving the game

one time after a junior rugby league camp it was for both the guys and the girls we had us to train them and to help the them out but half the parents in that stadium paid there kids money them the team was a bit dumbfounded that these kids got paid money we that if these kids got to our level they will probably not have anyone to pay for them kids should not be paid they have to learn there is no I in team

Chloe I am with you I know a girl that when she makes State or Country her mum buys her big gifts like a playstation one time a new gameboy another, games plus she gets clothes when she goes to these events plus gets to stay over night in the motel…It is ok to get the clothes as that is very special as you have main the big event but all the other thing I don’t think so…....Sport is for fun if you have to pay or give big gifts it is not fun it is only keeping the child happy…Who is to say that the child is doing for themselves I think half the time parents are trying to live their dream though their children…So they pay them to keep doing it…..Sports for fun fitness and friendship..Enjoy it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that if parents are stupid enough to pay their children it is up to them but it is not making the children any better sports only spoilt brats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
